Night lay over the small valley, where the Kanaran wolves made their dens. It was perfectly silent, and the stars glittered coldly down. The moon was as thin as a whisker. A burly wolf sat at each end of the valley: the sentries. But what enemy would dare come here? A thin shadow began to move on one of the slopes, near the Trainees' dens. A young wolf, golden pelt washed grey by moonlight, was sneaking past the den. Larka moved quickly and quietly, sneaking from one bush to another. Her paws tingled with excitement. Trainees were not allowed outside the camp without a fighter, which was why the young wolf was sneaking around now. She hated being constantly babied. I'll show them! I'll catch an entire deer, all by myself! Then the golden wolf was above the dens, on the slope of the mountain. The night wind gently ruffled her fur.

Rei had been sitting quietly on a boulder outside of camp, head tilted back to watch the stars. Closing her scarlet eyes, she she let the gentle night breeze ruffle her fur. With a twitch of her tail, the slim white and blue wolf rose to her paws and jumped down silently from her perch, her pendant catching the light beautifully. Walking back towars camp, Rei heard the the sounds of another wolf. Curious, she padded noiselessly towards the sound. Peering through a bush, she saw the trainee, Larka. Knowing the young wolf wasn't supposed to be out, Rei stepped from the bushes. "What are you doing out of camp?" Rei asked blandly, red eyes showing nothing.

Larka jumped about two feet in the air, her fur bristling with surprise. "Uh... well... I couldn't sleep, so I was taking a walk?" She blinked at Rei, trying her best to look cute. Oh no! If she tells Raze, I won't be allowed out of my den for the next moon.

Rei let a rare smile momentarily cross her face. She knew the young trainee wanted to go out, and she knew that Larka didn't want her to tell Raze. Giving in to the young one's pleading look, Rei flicked her blue tipped tail and padded into the woods saying "Come on. I'll take you hunting."

Larka's eyes widened with disbelief. She's not going to tell on me? The golden wolf wagged her tail happily. "Thank you, Rei!!!!" She bounded forwards, then stopped as if she had hit a brick wall. Rei is the Fighter. She should lead. She circled around behind the other Kanaran, wagging her tail excitedly.

Rei looked back at her young companion. "Don't think too much into it." She said softly, then added as an afterthought "And try not to make too much noise; you'll scare off all the prey." Turning back, she padded farther into the woods. Lifting her muzzle, she sniffed the air. Catching the scent of deer, she turned towards it and snuck forward, warning Larka with a flick of her tail that she should be quiet. Peering through the thick brush, she saw several deer bedding down for the night. Turning back to Larka, she whispered quietly "Go around the other side of the clearing. When you see my signal, go for the buck." She flicked her ear towards a male at the edge of the herd.

Heart pounding, Larka moved to follow Kei's orders. She slipped silently through the trees, her golden pelt dappled with shadows. The Trainee wormed her way under a bush, belly close to the ground. She straightened up slightly as she reached the far side. Now only a thin screen of leaves separated her from the herd.

Rei saw that Larka was in position. Her eyes never leaving the target, she stuck her nose out of the bushes and flicked her ears in a signal to attack. Moving as silently as a shadow, she burst from the bushes and raced at the buck, fangs bared.

Larka mirrored Rei, racing from the bushes to attack the deer. She sank her teeth into the flank of the buck, growling as it struggled. You're mine!

The elk bugled and bucked as Larka and Rei clung to it. Releasing her hold on the elk's shoulder, Rei whirled in front of it and launched herself at the elk, clinging to its neck. The elk fell to his knees and Rei let out a triumpnant howl.

Larka howled along with Kei, her muzzle still dripping with the elk's blood. She eyes the fallen body with triumph. My first hunt!

Rei nodded to Larka. "You did good, Larka." She said, realizing that she hardly gave complements to anyone. "You were near silent as you stalked around the other side of the herd." She gave the trainee one of her rare smiles.

Larka grinned in happiness about the unexpected compliment. "Wow, thanks!" She wagged her tail, grinning.

ooc - Just to make it intiresting ;D ...
Rei nodded, then suddenly raised her tail for silence. Pricking her ears forward, she tensed. Something wasn't right. Glancing around, she was about to tell Larka to go back to camp when suddenly a dark shape hurled from the bushes and bowled her over. Yelping as she felt sharp claws digging into her side, she grapled with the dark shape before screaming at Larka "Run back to camp, Larka! Go!"

Larka froze, horrorstruck. At first, her only instinct was to flee, to run away from the attacker as fast as she could. But then a fighting spirit rose inside her. I can't leave Rei! The golden-pelted wolf showed her fangs, still stained with the blood of the deer, and snarled at the enemy in defiance.
ooc- Is it a Kavari?
