Torono lay nearly lifeless against a tree. The scene was easily reconstructed. His head was the first to hit the tree when the huge beast attacked him. His head hit with the most force, and he fell from the air, out cold. He was luck that was all he got out with, or was he? He had been laying there for at least two hours and the sun had set upon his body, leaving him laying in the dark. His fur was ruffled, much different from the usual smooth texture.
Then, he stirred. His tail flicked, just barely, and then his leg twitched, gaining conscienceness once more. His brown eyes opened, and as soon as they did, they were shut again. The throbbing pain in his head was nearly unbearable, though it was fading into a slight ache, as it had time to cool. He was still. His eyes were open again, wider than before. The pain was nothing now. His eyes were open, staring blankly at an invisible object. He sat there for minutes, breathing slowly. He knew he was in pain, and that something was terribly wrong.

Another dark shape was sitting a few feet away from Torano, his back turned to the unconcious wolf and his head tilted to stare at the stars. Saber had stumbled upon Torano in one of his rounds through the woods. He had been suprised to find a nearly dead wolf out here in the wild, and even more surprised that he recognized the wolf. Torano, one of his old packmates from the Rogue Pack. Suprisingly, he used to be 'friends' with this wolf (if Saber ever could have friends. It's more like aquaintance). But ever since he deserted the forest wolves and ran away instead of fighting in the Wraith War, Saber hadn't thought much of him. Part of him still thought that Torano was a coward for deserting his fellows.
Hearing a slight rustle from behind him. Saber looked over his shoulder to see that Torano was awake. Moonlight glinted off his chocolate brown eyes and stained patches of his teal and black fur silver. Rising to his paws, Saber turned and faced Torano fully, staring impassively into his eyes. "Torano." He said stiffly, nodding once in greeting. "It's been too long."

Torano was terrified. For a moment, he forgot everything, what he was, what he was on, the tall trees around him, they had all been lost in the haze his mound was under. He could feel his thoughts hitting the side of his skull, and each time he thought a little too hard, his mind hurt and left him no reply. But he could still move. He knew that, at least. But the feeling of nothingness was so present, it preceded his pain.
Then, he heard a voice. He was relieved to understand the words, though it was wasted away when he looked over at him. It was a beast of sorts, larger than himself and intimidating. Torono jumped up with compromised speed and stood his ground defencevly. He knew he would be in no condidtion to fight, his head was already rattling in pain, but he might as well keep his ground.

Saber flicked his ears back irritably. He was in no mood for Torano's games, and he wasn't in the best of moods to tell the truth. He snorted and sat down heavily on the moss, tail tip twitching. "What's gotten into you?" He growled, tearing at the dirt with his claws. "Did I startle you or somethin'?" He turned his head away and looked at Torano through only one of his eyes, his gaze annoyed.

Torano's tail lowered slowly, understanding. He didn't know what to think. He looked at himself. He knew he wasn't young, so why did he feel it? He couldn't remember, just couldn't. Whatever this guy called him, he seemed to know him, and Torano would have felt guilty for not remembering him, had he been able to remember anyone else. Torano's voice was flat and cool, as if he had not learned to use it.
"What?" he asked quickly, keeping his stance, but with his tail lowered peacefully behind.

Saber stared at him for a second, then snorted and turned around. "Has he always been this strange, or do I just not remember him properly?" He muttered to himself. Dipping his head, he scooped up a couple of herb leaves in his mouth. Turning, he dropped them at Torano's feet. "I'm not the best with herbs, but those should make you feel better if you eat them." He told Torano, thinking Why do I even bother? Taking a couple of paces back, he flopped on the ground. Lifting up his paw, he licked in between his claws as he watched Torano. "How'd you end up here, banged against a tree and knocked out for who knows how long?" He asked suddenly, curiosity getting the better of him.

Torano watched as he fetched some leaves and let them flutter down to his feet. He made a disgusted look. He didn't know what seemed good enough to eat, but definatly not this. Casting his disgruntled face to Saber, he heard him speak once again.
'How'd you end up here, banged against a tree and knocked out for who knows how long?'
He duddenly remembered the pain he had almost forgotton. It throbbed the back of his head, sore when he moved his eyes, like his brain was the direct victim of the bash with the tree. Here? Where was here? Or more importantly, where was there? Where he was before this? Who was he? He shuddered, forgetting about Saber for a minute.
His mind was racing so fast, so many questions flying around, never to be answered by his memories. Torano went rigid and looked at his paws, then around at the rest of his lean body. His voice was nearly a whisper.
"Who am I!?"

Saber froze. Turning back to him, he really looked at Torano for the first time. Something like unease prickled at his pelt, making his fur stand on end on his shoulders. He didn't look so good. Striding forward, he stuck his face close to Torano's, looking him in the eye. "You really don't remember who you are, or remember me?" He asked slowly, thinking to himself that if Torano was just pulling his tail, he would rip the little wolf into a hundred pieces. This is just what I need. he grumbled to himself.
