Carmen stood at the edge of the plateau, looking down towards the Senya camp. Her multicolored fur was a splash of fire against the darkening twilight sky. As she stood, looking like some radiant statue, the wind ruffled through her fur with a gentle caress. In the great arc of the sky above, the first few stars were appearing. The young wolf's golden eyes were wistful as she gazed up at them. She shivered convulsively, a little spooked. It had been the same time of day- that frozen moment between evening and night- that she had last stood upon the brink of the sheer cliffs.
Don't you dare even think about it.[/s] Carmen jumped. She had been expecting the voice, sooner or later, but still... She whirled around, looking slightly guilty. "Marius, don't sneak up on me like that!" Her eyes were fixed on what would have appeared to any other wolf as a perfectly ordinary patch of sky. But to her eyes, there was a slender, midnight-blue wolf sitting there, his green eyes fixed upon her face.
Sorry[/s], he said whisking his tail. I just worry about you sometimes, you know?[/s] "I know," Carmen replied softly. "But you don't need to worry, Mar. I'm not going to try to kill myself again." The apparition nodded solemnly. There was a moment of stillness, then, to break the tension, he trotted over and licked her cheek with a coral-pink tongue. The orange wolf giggled. "Hey, that tickles!" A teasing light glittered in Marius's eyes. Oh, well if you'd rather Darien be licking your cheek...[/s] "Stop it! I don't know what you're talking about!" Carmen growled, blushing under her fur. Marius titled his head to the side.
Oh, really? I saw the way you were looking at him after he caught that huge stag.[/s] The other wolf looked away, flattening her ears. "Shut up." Marius sighed, rolling his eyes comically. All right, if you insist.[/s] He was silent for a moment, and then said, Want to go hunt?[/s] "Not right now." The sky was almost totally dark now, with only a single line of lavender remaining in the west. The stars shone with a cold fire, and the crescent moon was just beginning to peep above the horizon.
Fine.[/s]

A colorful figure sat atop a large rock, facing south. The trainee's reddish-magenta eyes were fixed upon the ocean. The water was dark, like the sky.
The she-wolf pricked her ears at the sound of... talking? Was someone else up here? She looked around, and noticed Carmen, one of her packmates, sitting on the side of the plateau that over looked the Senya camp. Who was Carmen talking to? Curious, Iris stood, and slowly approached the other she-wolf. Iris only heard one half of this conversation that Carmen seemed to be having.
"H-hi, Carmen...." she said quietly and awkwardly. She didn't really like to talk to other wolves, but she was a little freaked out by the way Carmen seemed to be talking to herself.

Carmen jumped like she had been bitten. Whirling around, she glared with suspicious eyes at the wolf that was standing there. Recognition reached her brian, and she relaxed slightly. "Oh... uh, hi... Iris..."
Hi, Iris[/s], Marius parroted, his green eyes gleaming.
Shut up![/s] the young wolf snapped, panicked. She can't know that I've been talking to you![/s]
How would she know? No one else can see me, remember?[/s] The blue wolf yawned and lazily walked over to stand right beside Iris. You worry too much, Carmen.[/s]
You don't worry enough[/s], she retorted. Realizing that Iris was probably wondering why she was just sitting there staring at her, Carmen looked over towards the Trainee and said, "It's, um, a beautiful night, isn't it?"

"Yes, it is...." Iris said, glancing over at the ocean. "Did... did you come up here to look out at the forest, too?" Iris asked. She really didn't know what to say. She wasn't good at talking to other wolves. She usually kept to herself. She didn't know why she'd decided to come and start a conversation with another wolf. It wasn't like her.

"Er..." said Carmen. Marius grinned and trotted back to her side, wagging his tail like a puppy. The Fighter shot him a stern glare before remembering to answer Iris's question. "Yes, I.. I like looking out over the forest...'
Never mind that it's pitch-black outside and you can barely see one leaf of the trees[/s], Marius added snidely. Sensing Carmen's displeasure, he added quickly, Tell her... you saw a deer in the forest from up here.[/s] Pause. Tell her you saw a wild boar. Tell her you saw a cow flying flying over the moon, but say something! Carmen ducked her head and looked away, overcome with shyness. She had never liked conversation, and having to say something to one wolf while saying something totally different to Marius could get very confusing at times. "D... do you think the moon... looks pretty, tonight?" she ventured at last. It was a pale sliver, barely visible and just above the horizon. Marius snorted. Very eloquent.[/s]
I'd like to see you do better.[/s]

Iris nodded. She noticed that Carmen through a stern glance to the side. The trainee glanced quickly over, but her expression remained the same.
"D... do you think the moon... looks pretty, tonight?"
Iris looked up at the sky. "Oh... oh yes. I've... I've always wondered how it changes shape... like that," she said, quite awkwardly. She, too, wasn't one for conversation, but she wasn't fond of the idea of spying on Carmen, and she was quite curious about who the she-wolf was talking to.

Carmen nodded slowly, still a little wary of getting drawn into a long conversation. "Yeah, that is kind of strange, isn't it? Why doesn't it just stay... one shape, all the time?"
Well, this is certainly an interesting topic[/s], said Marius, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Carmen sighed softly. Why can't he be more polite?
I heard that[/s], the blue wolf snapped.
I meant you to.[/s]

Iris nodded. She was a bit embarrassed by her inablity to talk to other wolves, and actually talk about something interesting. She stared at the ground. "Well, uh.... I suppose I should probably get back to camp.... I asked to leave a while ago, and I don't think it's really safe for trainees to be out of camp this late...." she said to Carmen, although it seemed as though she was speaking to the rocky ground upon which her gaze was fixed.

ooc- Sorry for the wait.
"What?" Carmen asked, still keeping one eye on Marius. "Oh, yes... I guess we should head back..." She cast a regretful glance up at the sky, where the sliver-thin moon was rising higher and higher amid the sparkling stars.
Oh, cheer up,[/s] Marius said, trotting towards Iris and away again. We can still talk in the den, although you'll be really tired tomorrow. She's right: it's quite late already.[/s] The young Fighter nodded slowly. "Okay, then." she didn't know who she was speaking to, Iris or Marius.
Just don't go hunting before you get a chance to nap tomorrow,[/s] the dark-blue wolf added, chattering away blithely. I remember last time that happened- you could have easily gotten that deer, but you made as much noise as a blind badger-[/s]
Did not![/s] Carmen protested indignantly, with an amused grin.
