Pain jarred up Cinderflame's front paw as it collided with the crimson head of his foe. For a second he was disconcerted, and then that feeling was lost beneath a savage joy as a different kind of crimson stained his claws- blood, not fur. Ah, the blood, the glorious gushing blood that was even now spreading across Raze's pelt, brilliant scarlet across bright burgundy. Filled with a mad desire to spill more of it, to paint the entire forest with its beautifulness, Cinderflame made no move to step aside as the wounded Kanaran sprang towards him. A paw smashed into his head and the Maotu snarled angrily, bright dots popping before his eyes briefly before disappearing again. Then teeth sank into his shoulder and he let out a rather un-fearsome screech, sounding more like a cat hit with spray from a hose than a fearsome Kavari leader. There was blood staining the leaves of the forest again, but this time it was his own, and Cinderflame felt that this significantly diminished its seductiveness. Arching his neck, he tried to snap at the hated wolf with long teeth, but the impossible angle ensured that he only managed to yank out a few tufts of fur.
ooc- Was that powerplaying? If so, sorry. I didn't know if you wanted Raze to hit him or not. When should Rain come in? Should I wait until the Kavari have sort of subdued the wolves?

Ooc - Nope, you're ok. Cinderflame was so... bloodthirsty. xD It was entertaining and a bit creepy to read. And yeah, maybe bring Rain in after the wolves are subdued. Raze snarled viciously as he sunk his teeth farther into Cinderflame's flesh. His muzzle and face was stained scarlet with the Kavari's blood and his own. With his eyes glowing savagely, he scrabbled at the cat's shoulder with his blunt claws, while slashing at his belly with his back feet. He suddenly shuddered as he felt a strange chill come over his body. He recognized it almost immediately; he was going into what he called his 'frenzy.' Remembering the last time that happened, he quickly released the big cat, recoiling backwards and spitting out the fur and blood in his mouth. He stood there, shuddering convulsively and breathing unevenly, an open target.Ooc - btw, the whole 'frenzy' thing he refered to is what happens in my book in the Wraith War. He gets totally out of control and kills anything in his path, friend or foe. Thus, he doesn't want to get all riled up with his buddies around. He's completely vulerable right now, cuz he's trying to control himself and he's also a bit disoriented from blood loss, etc.

A series of short, sharp lightning strikes burned into Cinderflame's shoulder- or so it felt like. In reality, it was Raze's teeth gnawing into his pelt and his claws seemingly striking everywhere on the Kavari's side at once. The Maotu staggered to the side, bleeding as heavily as Raze now. Through the blood-soaked dimness of his wrath-clouded eyes, the Kavari leader noticed that the wolf's own eyes seemed to be glowing. What the- For a second, he felt almost... afraid. Then a particularly mighty blow struck his shoulder, and Cinderflame roared in rage. Enough of this stupid little wolf trying to hurt him! He reached down with his mighty jaws, trying to bit at Raze's head. His teeth closed on empty air. To his surprise the wolf had released its grip and backed away. It was just standing there and shivering, a perfect target. An evil grin split Cinderflame's muzzle. Had he had a sane moment to think, Cinderflame might have wondered why Raze had backed away from the battle. But as it was, with the rage of battle upon him, the massive Kavari snarled and leaped forwards, claws extended, fully intending to tear Raze limb from limb.

Raze watched in horror as his enemy crouched and leaped, his face twisted into a grotesque grin. He stood immobile, afaid to attack, and unable to run away. And then he gazed into the cat's eyes, and his own mind suddenly calmed. So, this is what if feels like before you die. he mused curiously, somewhere in an inner sanctum of his thoughts. He wasn't afraid anymore; on the contrary, he was curious about death. At least I'll see my other friends again... Auna, and Sonya. Ty and Icefall. Then a sudden pain ripped from his heart, and an image burst into his mind, clear as day. Natasha, the only one he ever loved. He realized with a sudden desperation that she was his anchor in this life. He would not die without her. This thought process took all of the two seconds before Cinderflame crashed into him with the force of a formidable wrecking ball. Raze's howl was cut off as Cinderflame's weight pinned him to the ground. The air was forced from his lungs, and he gasped uselessly. His vision started to go dark, and in seconds, he was unconcious. His last thought was Stay alive... if only for her sake.
Shukka froze where he was, uncharacteristically distracted by the battle between the red wolf and Cinderflame. His eyes widened in awe. He had never seen any creature fight with as much passion and fury as those two right now. Forgetting about Jillian for a second, he whirled, startled by the look in his leader's eyes. Cinderflame wanted blood, and he wanted in bad. If no one interfered now, he would probably kill that wolf. "Cinderflame!" Shukka roared. "Remember, don't kill the wolf! We need him alive!" He hoped that his words reached his leader and made him see the unwiseness of killing Raze now.

OoC// Makes me wanna cry! -Hugs Tasha- Sorry I haven't written. I thought it died. xD BTW.... SORRELKILL IS A GIRL!?! xD xD xD Oops.
Seeing her chance, Jillian wasted no time in leaping at the cat. She had peiced together a plan with incredible speed, as her skill, and she knew what she was going to do. In mid air, she reeled the next portion of it through her mind. This cat was huge, and she fit on his back comfortably. SWhatever his next move, she could try and trick him onto his back somehow, though it sounded unlikely. She flung herself with a lot of force, though definatly not enough to disgruntle his position. Her jaws were open in a snarl, ready to latch to his scruff. Though she was perpetually thankful for his life. Without him, Raze would probably be dead in five minutes. But he remined teh leader not ... not to kill...
Panic struck her, and suddenly, she felt weak and powerless. Whatever they wanted to do with them they wanted them alive. She dare not question why.

Cinderflame slammed into Raze with incredible force, sending both the wolf and the Kavari sprawling across the ground. The huge Maotu spat as dirt filled his mouth, and he quickly tried to push himself up again. Pain seared across his mangled shoulder and he fell backwards with a yelp, vision flaring with black and red. Panting, he tried again, and this time succeeded in standing up. For a heartbeat he merely stood there, swaying. Then his gaze focused upon Raze, lying barely two feet away. Doubt gripped him for a second. Is he... dead? But no, the hated enemy was still breathing. Rage sank its talons into Cinderflame's brain again, and he bared his teeth, ready to rend Raze's flesh. Across the clearing, Shukka's mouth was moving, but it was a few moments before the words reached his brain.
"Cinderflame! Remember, don't kill the wolf! We need him alive!"
The Kavari blinked, realizing that in his fury he had been about to tear the wolf apart. Whoops...

Ooc - Nonono! Sorrelkill's a guy. ^.^' Sorry, that can get confusing. His mother was also named Sorrelkill, so it's hard because when I RP, I have to remind myself he's a guy and when I write the book, it have to remind myself she's a girl. >.< Nrg.
Raze lay splayed on the ground, still unconcious and bleeding.
Shukka heard the rustle and thump of paws on leaves, and he whirled to see the Beta lunge at him. A nanosecond after she leaped, he saw realization dawn in her eyes and he body go limp in midair. Whoops. I just kind of gave away our plan. Shukka thought, blinking. Then he shook his head forcefully. No, it's better this way. Now they know what they're dealing with. Baring his fangs in a snarl, he leaped forward on top of the smaller wolf, batting at her with sheathed paws to try and knock her unconcious.
Rei writhed and thrashed fruitlessly under the giant paws of her captor. She snarled and spat and snapped, trying to find flesh to sink her teeth into, but there was nothing in reach. She was trapped.
Sorrelkill struggled to hold down the thrashing she-wolf. He growled and snarled, extending his claws to sink into the she-wolf's fur. "Hold still." He growled angrily. Lifting his head, he called to his leader "Cinderflame, what should we do with her?" He twitched his ears to indicate Rei.

Jillian had no idea what hit her. She was fling toward the cat, and suddenly, all was black. She knew it was his pelt, not sudden blindness or death. She felt him ontop of her, and realized she had been deflected like a bug or leaf. She let herself go limp. He had gotton her, and they were going to keep her alive just a little longer, so she might as well be in the best condition so she could run. Her eyes were gazing up at him as his paw came down on her still face. Her paws were on her chest, and for a moment, she was peaceful. Then he hit her. And that was it. She was out cold, and couldn't be happier about it. She thought she was one up, but she was so wrong.

Cinderflame prodded Raze hard with one paw, making sure that he was actually unconscious, not faking. All his previous uncontrollable anger had been washed away, replaced by a cold fury. But truly, he didn't know who to be more furious at: this evil wolf, who had destroyed the Kavari long ago; or himself, for losing control. Narrowing his eyes, he glowered at Raze until Sorrelkill's words reached his ears. Looking up, he said, "Well, I suppose we should break their legs now; it'll be easier because they're out cold. We'd have to pretty much drag them back to the desert anyway, so we might as well do it now."
Rain wandered through the forest, his head hanging low. He knew that it was stupid for a loner to just go wandering around on a pack's territory, but somehow he couldn't muster the urge to head back to the neutral territories. All he could think of was Rei; how her fur shone in the moonlight, how entrancing her soft voice was, how beautiful her eyes were... When will I see her again? The loner let out a soft sigh, and his head drooped lower still. It had only been an hour, maybe two, since they had said farewell, but it already seemed like an eternity. His head jerked up suddenly, eyes bright with alarm, as a new scent reached his nose. Blood. Sniffing furiously, the wolf decided that it was coming from less than half a mile away. Without even stopping to wonder what was going on, Rain raced towards the source of the smell.

Sorrelkill returned his gaze to Rei, his eyes as cold as flint. Baring his fangs, he growled at her "You wolves killed my parents. I feel no pity for you when I do this."
Rei froze in fear as soon as Cinderflame's words sank in. Break our legs... Oh, gods, no! All to suddenly, she felt jaws clamp around her right foreleg. A peircing shreik of agony erupted from her jaws as she felt her bone break. "NO!" She screamed in agony, thrashing so hard that she nearly threw the larger Kavari off of her. Wave after wave of nauseating pain washed over her, drowning out every other sound and sense. Then, she felt her other bones break, one after the other. Screames of pain rent the air, and she realized with a shock that it was her who was screaming. Please... someone help.... She thought, panting and whining in pain, now to overcome to scream.
Sorrelkill broke the she-wolf's legs quickly and efficiently. Eventually, her screams subsided into pained whimpers, and he saw she was moments away from unconciousness. Knowing she wouldn't go anywhere anytime soon, he stepped off of her, wrinkling his nose in disgust. "Filthy dog." He spat at her.
Everything was soft and black. Raze felt nothing as he floated in a black void, somewhere between death and life. He was content; for the first time, he felt totally at ease. Abruptly, his peace was shattered by a blood-curdling scream of agony. A jolt like an electric shock vibrated along his spine, effectively yanking him back to conciousness. He gasped loudly as his eyes flew open. HIs paws scrabbled weakly on the leaf-strewn grass. Another scream ripped apart the air. "Rei!" He howled, recognizing her voice. His eyes zeroed in on Sorrelkill, where he stood over the white she-wolf. Snarling horridly, he felt rage pulse behind his eyes and in his veins, filling him with a desire to kill. "I'll kill you!" He howled at Sorrelkill. "I'll kill you just like I killed your parents!" Suddenly, he felt his strength ebbing from his outburst. His limbs went weak, and he flopped tiredly on the forest floor again.

Rain peered through the undergrowth cautiously, wondering what the heck was happening. He could smell the thick, coppery, nauseating scent of blood. Inhaling deeply, he realized that there were wolves in the clearing, and another scent, one he had smelled recently... The loner's eyes widened as he realized that there were Kavari in the clearing. Oh, gods... Where are they coming from? Haven't been seen for three years, and suddenly swarming all over the forest like termites! He took a step away, his tail between his legs. It wasn't that the loner was a coward, but the wounds the first Kavari had inflicted still stung, and he wasn't looking forward to fighting one again. Suddenly the forest was split by a piercing, agonizing scream. Rain flattened his ears, wondering what could possibly induce a wolf to make such an awful sound. Then it was tens times worse- a hundred times worse- as he recognized the voice. Rei. "No!" Rain screamed with an answering agony, not caring if the Kavari heard him or not. All that mattered was that his love was in pain, they were hurting her, and he hadn't got a hope of stopping three full-grown Kavari... "No..." he whispered raggedly, voice muted and scratched with the terrible pain that was still stabbing at his heart, threatening to rend him in two. "Oh, En'theris, please, please, let her be okay. Don't let them kill her. T-take me instead..." A few short days ago he would have scoffed at himself for such a sentiment, but now he was praying to the First Wolf with every fiber of his being.
Cinderflame's eyes narrowed as Raze's voice faded and he once again slumped over. The Maotu's ears still ran from the small white wolf's terrible scream. Perhaps, long ago, he might have been inclined to feel some sort of sympathy, but that had long faded, eroded by the twin cyclones of hatred and revenge. He stalked, wincing every time his left front paw touched the ground, over to where the red wolf lay. "Yes, you killed our parents, wolf, as you so like to remind us." His voice was soft, almost gentle, but somehow more terrifying than his earlier roars. "But don't you think we won't make you rue the day you ever thought to drive us from your lands?" He bent down until he was almost nose to nose with Raze. "We will make you suffer the way we did, but over and over and over."

Rei's heart nearly stopped when she heard an answering scream of agony from in the woods. Twisting around, she managed (although painfully) to wiggle around enough to stare into the woods where the scream came from. It took her only a nanosecod to recognize the voice: Rain. Suddenly overcome with irrational fear for him, she called back around another dizzying jolt of pain, "No! Rain, stay away!" She howled, half gasping, "Don't let them catch you!" Her head was spinning and she could barely tell what she was staying, but she grimly held onto conciousness. Please, gods, don't let them get him too. She begged silently.
Raze glared right back at Cinderflame, his nose only inches away from the cat's muzzle. A deep, red hot fire was burning in his belly, making his insides boil with rage. Lifting his libs over his teeth, he snarled and spat in Cinderflame's face. "Do your worst." He hissed, all fear washed away from his mind.

Rain's eyes were narrowed, and he trembled like a leaf in the wind. Rei... Rei... He peered through the screen of leaves again, just managing to catch a glimpse of white fur. Then, remembering her warning, he ducked out of sight again. What do I do? Oh, gods, what do I do??? He couldn't risk letting the Kavari see him, but there was no way he was just going to sit there while they hurt Rei. Think of something! he screamed at himself, half-mad with fear. There's got to be some way I can-
Cinderflame snarled furiously at Raze's defiance. "Very well." He moved his head and carefully, almost tenderly, placed his jaws around the red wolf's foreleg. Defy me, will you, wolf? I'll teach you to fear the Kavari! Narrowing his eyes, he glared at Raze. This is for all the Maotu you've killed, he thought, and then he bit down.

Raze's jaws snapped together and his head jerked back to slam into the earth. The pain lanced up his leg again and again. He could feel the places that it was broken. He ground his teeth together, not making a sound. His eyes burned furiously as he stared at Cinderflame, waiting for him to finish the deed. I'm not going to make a sound... not going to give you the pleasure of hearing me scream. He thought, his veins pulsing with rage as he glared scorchingly at Cinderflame.
Rei winced as she heard a muffled crack of breaking bone. She whimpered helplessly, her eyes raking the dark forest. Rain... Rain... please don't do anything stupid! SHe begged silently as she lay sprawled on the ground. She thought she caught a glimpse of grey and blue fur, but it was gone before she could tell if it was him.

To Cinderflame's surprise, the wolf didn't cry out. The Kavari felt the full impact of his enemy's scorching glare as the wolf's head fell backwards, but other than that there seemed to be no reaction. The Kavari leader was almost impressed. Almost. Snorting contemptuously, Cinderflame stalked over to Raze's other side, and bit down on that leg as well. His eyes never left Raze's as he shattered the bone, searching for some sign of weakness in the wolf's face.
Rain crouched still lower behind the sheltering bush, eyes moon-round and staring with horror. Rei was lying on the ground, looking so helpless... He couldn't bring himself to look at her legs, and so instead focused on her face. What if this is that last time I see her- ever? NO! He couldn't think that way, he had to save her. He took a single step forwards, but froze as the bush rustled gently. There was no way he could get around it without the Maotu seeing him, and fighting three of them at once would have been a daunting task even for the best fighter in the forest, which Rain certainly wasn't.
