Cinderflame paced majesticaly around the border of the camp. All seemed well with his pack, and he was pleased. We have become strong again, he thought grimly. Strong enough to challenge the Kanarans. His thoughts grew darker, and his tail lashed angrily. The tiger-striped leader took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. Thoughts on this subject would only lead to places he dared not venture. To take his mind off the wolves, he padded over to a young Trainee who was sitting in the shadows. "Hey, Sorrelkill. How are you?"

Sorrelkill jumped and hastily rose to his feet in front of his leader. "H-hi Cinderflame." he stammered. He had noticed that the leader had been pacing as if he had something on his mind. Tilting his head to the side, he asked "What were you thinking about?"

Cinderflame purred, admiring the Trainee's courageous spirit. "I was just thinking about the Kanarans." He paused. "You're to young to remember the Great War, aren't you? The Kanarans drove us out again, hoping we would perish in the desert. But we have grown strong again. We could challenge them."
ooc: Do Trainees have specific mentors?

ooc - Not really. They go out and train with whoever has time to train them.
Sorrelkill lashed his tail, his eyes gleaming. "I remember some of it." He said quietly, with anger in his voice. "The Kanarans killed my parents. I never got a chance to avenge them. I would like nothing better than to rip the pelt off of the wolves that killed my patents." He slid out his claws and dug them into the earth.

Cinderflame nodded approvingly. Here was the spirit that would conquer the Kanarans! Too many of the Kavari had become weak, meekly accepting their fate without a word of protest. "That's the right attitude," he growled, resting a tail-tip on the young cat's shoulder. "Say, would you like to train with me later? There's not much else happening around here."

Inside, Sorrelkill glowed with Cinderflame's praise. When the leader asked if he would like to train later, he forgot his angry attitude and turned excited. "That would be great!" he purred, eagerly bouncing from paw to paw.

Cinderflame purred happily. "Okay, i'll meet you at the edge of the desert at noon, then!" Meowing a good-bye, he bounded away. He paused outside his den, eyes wistful. I see myselff in that cub. he's just like I was at that age.

Sorrelkill dipped his head respectfully as his leader walked away, then playfully punced on a stray leaf blowing in a mild breeze. Abandoning the leaf, he trotted over to get a drink, excited at the prospect of training with his leader.
